As the holiday season wraps up, we take pride in upholding our core value of giving back at Daycos. In our recent blog post, we revisited various acts of kindness from Daycos employees during our ongoing Give Back initiative. Today, we’re thrilled to share the amazing projects our teams undertook this month, armed with a generous $250 each ($35 for individual remote employees) to create positive impacts far and wide. Check out all the amazing ways our teams chose to support their community:

Lunch Debt Relief for Students

Team 1 exemplifies the power of collaboration. Starting with a $250 seed, they reached out to local businesses and secured match contributions, growing their fund to an impressive $2,150. The money was distributed among 12 schools in the community, helping alleviate lunch debt for students and families in need.

A Double Dose of Joy

Team 2 found two unique ways to spread joy. They delivered Christmas treats to the Norfolk Senior Citizen Center, bringing festive cheer to Meals on Wheels recipients. Additionally, they purchased restaurant-grade pots and pans for the Norfolk Rescue Mission, contributing to the mission’s efforts to provide meals and support for those in need.

Blankets of Comfort for Children

Team 3 focused on providing comfort and a sense of security for children at Faith Regional Health Services Child Advocacy Center. Using their $250, they purchased 21 blankets with various prints, ensuring that the children utilizing the center’s services would feel warmth and care during difficult times.

Adopting a Family

Team 4 took a personal approach by adopting a family with three children, purchasing clothing, boots, stocking stuffers, and gift cards. The team’s generosity was further amplified by a generous donation match, enabling them to make a significant impact on the adopted family’s holiday season.

Salvation Army Angel Tree

Team 5 chose to participate in the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, sponsoring individuals in need and spending $50 on each person.

Heartfelt Gift Bags for Hospice Patients

Team 6 crafted 30 gift bags filled with comforting items for hospice patients at AseraCare. They contained lotion, slipper socks, lip balm, body wash, and activity books.

Anonymous Acts of Kindness

Team 7 extended their generosity to an anonymous family in need. With gifts for a single parent and three kids, they created a magical holiday for a family going through challenging times.

Supporting Our Furry Friends

Team 8 directed their efforts towards the Animal Shelter, fulfilling the holiday wish list of items needed to care for our furry friends.

Diapers and Wipes for Families in Need

Team 9 recognized the essential needs of families at Northern Hills Child Care Center, which is operated by Women’s Empowering Lifeline. This group used their $250 to purchase diapers and wipes for those who were struggling to provide them for their children.

Remote Employees: Making a Difference Across Miles

Even Daycos’ remote employees joined the cause, spreading joy in their own unique ways:

Bringing Cheer to Nursing Home Residents

One employee spread joy to nursing home residents by purchasing “joy jars”, which are handcrafted jars filled with flowers. Blossom + Birch has an “Adopt a Resident” holiday initiative where they deliver joy jars at a discounted price to Norfolk’s nursing homes.

Nurturing Hope at The Children’s Home in Pittsburgh

Another remote team member directed their funds toward The Children’s Home in Pittsburgh. This organization provides crucial in-patient and out-patient services for sick and vulnerable children, offering support to both the young patients and their families during challenging times.

Supporting Families at The Ronald McDonald House

This employee donated their money and pop tops to the Ronald McDonald House in Providence, RI. A Ronald McDonald House is a charity organization that provides a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill or injured children who are receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

Fulfilling Christmas Wishes for Child Care Centers

A generous employee fulfilled Christmas wishes off Aurora Child Care’s list by donating new pack and play sheets for an infant room and dinosaur toys for a preschool room.

Goodie Bags for Volunteer Firefighters

In a heartwarming gesture, one remote employee and their child took the time to create goodie bags for 36 volunteer firefighters at the Silver Creek Fire and Rescue.

Teddy Bear Toss and Community Support

Every year the Lincoln Stars hockey team holds a Teddy Bear Toss at a home game in December, and the crowd throws stuffed animals on the ice once they score their first goal. These teddy bears are donated to a toy drive through Community Action Partnership. This employee purchased a teddy bear and used the remaining funds to donate to the Community Action Partnership.

From Lunch Debt Relief initiatives that grew exponentially through collaborative efforts to gift bags for hospice patients, each project reflects the true spirit of giving. As we begin the new year, Daycos remains committed to fostering a culture where generosity knows no bounds. Discover the Daycos difference at daycos.com/daycos4good.
